Honesty
Once there was a poor woodcutter who lived with two of his friends.Everyday he would go to a forest which was situated beside a lake and do his work of cutting and collecting wood to earn his daily living. One day as he was cutting wood, the axe slipped out of his hand and fell into the lake "Plop...!!".The woodcutter tried to get his axe out of the lake but it was quite deep. Since there was no way he could reach his axe, he started crying. A goddess with a golden axe in her hand, heard him and came out and said " Is this your axe, my dear man?" The man was surprised at this sight and said that it was not his axe. Then the lady again went inside and brought out a silver axe and asked " Is this your axe?" The man crying said "No, this too is not my axe." Finally the goddess again went inside and brought out a wooden axe and questioned "This has to be your axe. Is this yours?" The man was very happy and said "Yes......!!!!" The goddess was very pleased with his honesty and gifted him all the axes. So he took the axes and thanked the goddess. He reached home late that day , so the friends asked him what was the reason and he narrated the whole story to them. The next day, one of the friends decided to try his luck and went to the forest. He started cutting the wood and purposely dropped the axe into the lake. As expected the goddess came out with a golden axe and asked the man" Is this your axe?" The man greedily replied "Yes Yes....Its mine" The goddess was very angry and did not give him even his wooden axe.
