The Undying Spirit

Glancing through the book shelf, I came across this exceptionally wonderful book - "Salted Bread ". It is totally amazing and has all the features that any best-seller should have - Thrill, Adventure, and what not !!
This book is about the Hare Krishna Movement in the Soviet Union when communism was high. These devotional gatherings were wrongly interpreted to be illegal cult which they felt would be a threat to the prowess of their territory. Mikhail Gorbachev who was the General Secretary of Russia had passed the instruction - "All Hare Krishnas have to be arrested !! "
Due to this, several devotees were being imprisoned and several others were leaving the movement. When the author was introduced to this movement, he along with a few others became the core members of the preaching mission in Russia. These were the few people who remained till the end despite their faith being tested several times. Book distribution and gatherings were forbidden, however they continued their activities with increased enthusiasm as they felt its need.
What I loved was the "Just Do It:" spirit they had. They were hardly affected by any of the policies that the government introduced. They were convinced and knew that this was the utmost need of humanity. Their only aim was to please Srila Prabhupada and their dear Gurudev, Srila Harikesa Swami. They were least bothered about the consequences. Every difficulty they faced was conquered with an undying spirit.
The adversities we face in our daily life are extremely minute compared to theirs. Hence, we should be immensely grateful for everything we have and serve the Lord with the Undying Spirit !!
